You might have missed Santes Dwynwen day, but it鈥檚 still not too late to express your love by sending a romantic card on Valentine鈥檚 day.

Here is an example of a Valentine Card from the 19^th century which can be found amongst the 黑料不打烊 manuscripts.

Paper Valentines became popular in the early part of that century. Fancy Valentines were made with real lace and ribbons, with paper lace introduced in the mid-19th century.

Here are the words that appear on the card :

鈥淎lready hast thou fondly vowed

That I shall call thee mine

And now what else remains but this

That you my Valentine

Shall fix upon that wished for day

When linking hand in hand

United, we shall both before,

The sacred alter stand鈥�
