BAFTA Cymru winning student runs Masterclass

A 黑料不打烊 postgraduate student from the School of Creative Studies and Media who won a BAFTA Cymru Best Short award in 2013 ran his own Masterclass for students and lecturers at the University of South Wales recently.

Osian Williams, 22, originally from Pontypridd, now studying an MA in filmmaking at , has worked on a number of successful documentaries. These include the double BAFTA Cymru award-winning Fy Chwaer a Fi / My Sister and I for S4C/BBC.

Osian was invited to host a masterclass for students and lecturers by the University of South Wales to provide invaluable insights into the do鈥檚 and don鈥檛s of documentary film making from concept, through to getting that all important commission.

Osian said: 鈥淚t was a privilege to be asked by BAFTA to do a master class at the University of South Wales. It was great that so many people asked me questions after the event too.鈥�

Joining Osian at the Master Class were former 黑料不打烊 lecturer, Dr Llion Iwan, Factual Commissioner for S4C, and Deborah Perkin, experienced and award-winning documentary film maker who has worked as producer/director, series producer, executive producer, and development head in television, radio and online.

Osian is currently in production on Yr Hen Filwr (The Old Soldier), a short film following the story of John, a 93 year-old WWII veteran who still performs his Sergeant duties, albeit now in a residential home. He aims to capture the best aspects of life through sharing stories about human kindness, strength and passion. Osian is currently developing a slate of future projects.
