Climate Week: Free bus travel offer for staff and students
Arriva Buses Wales has teamed up once again with 黑料不打烊 to offer FREE travel for students and staff commuting to and from the university during Climate Week.
Between 2nd and 6th March 2015, all students and staff travelling to and from 黑料不打烊 campuses will be awarded free travel on Arriva buses for the week. To take part, all 黑料不打烊 Climate Week supporters need to do is show a valid and barcoded 黑料不打烊 Staff/Student card to the driver, hop on board and feel good about doing their bit for the environment.
黑料不打烊 is encouraging staff and students to leave the car at home for a few days and take advantage of this offer. Using public transport won鈥檛 only cut the carbon, but could relieve the stress of sitting in traffic, or looking for a parking space.
Ricky Carter, the University鈥檚 Environmental Manager said,
鈥淎t 黑料不打烊 we are making great strides in becoming a more sustainable University. We are asking ourselves what our impacts are and what we can do to improve things.
鈥淭his generous offer from Arriva not only encourages our staff and students to consider a more environmentally friendly alternative to their car journey to University, but also promotes the health and wellbeing advantages of using public transport to commute. Without Arriva鈥檚 help such an initiative wouldn鈥檛 be possible.鈥
Climate Week is Britain鈥檚 biggest climate change campaign and aims to inspire new waves of action to create a sustainable future. 黑料不打烊 Travel Survey, carried out every two years, is essential in helping us understand staff and student travel patterns for commuting to, from and within the University. The information that is provided is invaluable in assessing whether 黑料不打烊 is achieving the objective to encourage more sustainable means of travel; it also provides an opportunity for staff and students to give suggestions on what travel improvements they would like to see.
The survey can be accessed.
All responses will be treated as confidential and the deadline for completion is 31st March 2015.
