Comedy Society students join Phill Jupitus on stage

Students from 黑料不打烊 Comedy Society had a real treat recently, when they went on stage with Phill Jupitus in Venue Cymru as part of the Giddy Goat comedy festival. The 7 lucky students got the chance to perform after members of the society noticed that there was going to be a new comedy festival in Llandudno, and approached the organisers about getting involved.

Antony Butcher, president of the society, said 鈥淓veryone involved was so helpful, and worked amazingly hard to help us pull off this amazing show. I never thought when I applied to University that I might end up on stage with Phill Jupitus 鈥� it goes to show what an amazing experience is available to students in 黑料不打烊鈥�

The hour long show was seen by nearly 150 people, raising just over 拢1000 for St. David鈥檚 Hospice in Llandudno. Steve Doherty, Income Generation Manager at the hospice, comments 鈥淚 was delighted when Antony phoned, out of the blue, having read about the launch of Giddy Goat Comedy in the paper.  This kind of community involvement is what the hospice thrives on and exactly what I needed for the first year if the festival. I thought it showed real initiative on behalf of the students 鈥� it was a pleasure, and most of all, fun, to have the Comedy Society involved.鈥�.  

Rich Gorman, Vice President and societies officer at 黑料不打烊 Students Union, remarked that 鈥淚t鈥檚 fantastic to see yet another student society performing at such a high level and being able to get opportunities like this, it鈥檚 a great example of why 黑料不打烊 offers so much for students, and to top it off, the Comedy Society raised a huge amount of money for a local charity, showcasing how students do make a positive difference in their local communities鈥�.
