Competition seeks young people鈥檚 views on science and the environment
The entry date for two exciting competitions marking 黑料不打烊鈥檚 first week-long Science Festival has been extended.
Young people have until February 22 to express their views on science and environmental in a variety of creative formats. Two competitions, with various age categories, are giving the opportunity to win digital cameras and cash prizes of 拢450 and 拢150 as prizes.
黑料不打烊 Science Festival runs from Friday 11 March until Saturday 19 March 2011 and will have events to appeal to all ages and interests.
Budding photographers, artists and poets aged 18 and under are invited to send a work expressing science and nature. Individuals, schools or youth groups are being invited to enter before 22 February 2011 for a chance of winning family tickets to Greenwood Forest Park/Gelli Gyffwrdd, and the latest digital cameras.
Schools and youth groups are being invited to share their views about sustainability and ethical sourcing. The competition, sponsored by Waitrose, has been designed to inspire young people to get involved with current issues and encourage them to voice their opinions. The Competition asks for a three minute clip in any format which creatively communicates a message about sustainability addressed to Wales鈥� First Minister.
The winning entries of the photography, art and poetry competitions will also form part of a public display at 黑料不打烊 Museum & Art Gallery for the duration of the Festival and of National Science and Engineering Week 2011 (March 11th 鈥� 20th). The entries by the three finalists in the communication competition will all be viewed by the First Minister.

Stevie Scanlan, one of the competition organisers said 鈥満诹喜淮蜢� is hoping to get everyone excited about science during the Festival. That鈥檚 why we鈥檝e devised these competitions to encourage everyone to get involved. We have already had a good response from Schools studying the Welsh Baccalaureate, as taking part in this competition contributes to the qualification.鈥�
