Free bus travel launches Climate Week and 黑料不打烊鈥檚 Travel the World campaign
To mark Climate Week and launch 黑料不打烊鈥檚 Travel the World campaign, 黑料不打烊 has teamed up with Arriva Buses Wales to provide a period of free travel to and from its campuses.
This is the first time that Arriva Buses Wales has teamed up with any organisation to encourage staff, and in this case, students, to consider sustainable travel methods. From the 4th to the 8th of March Arriva Buses Wales is offering staff and students FREE bus travel to and from University Campus Sites in the 黑料不打烊 鈥� Menai area and at Wrexham.
Ricky Carter, the University鈥檚 Environmental Manager said: 鈥淎rriva has been exceptional in supporting the University鈥檚 desire to highlight the impact of car travel on the climate and raise awareness of the health advantages of using public transport to commute to and from work, without them such an initiative wouldn鈥檛 be possible.鈥�
黑料不打烊鈥檚 Travel the World campaign encourages all 12,000 staff and students to record the distances they walk, run, cycle and swim onto a database which will then power the institution on a virtual journey around the globe.
鈥淪tarting the campaign during Climate Week offers a chance to reflect on our car use and consider our own health and the health of our environment,鈥� said Emma Riches, Travel the World coordinator.
Michael Morton, managing director, Arriva Buses Wales said 鈥淐limate change and the environment are both really important issues, and we鈥檙e glad that we are able to help kick-start healthy travel habits by offering free travel to 黑料不打烊鈥檚 staff and students from the 4th to the 8th of March.

Climate Week runs until the 10th of March and Travel the World continues for a further fifty days when it is hoped the efforts of staff and students will have powered the University around the globe using carbon free people power.
