Free lunch-time concerts
黑料不打烊 has opened its doors to a range of concerts for nearly a hundred years. The Music at 黑料不打烊 Concert Series brings around thirty concerts to 黑料不打烊 during the academic year: a diverse mix ranging from concerts for chamber ensembles to the BBC National Orchestra of Wales.
The University has recently started a lunchtime concert series that gives students an opportunity to perform in a more formal setting. Lunchtime recitals are held every Tuesday at 1 pm in Powis Hall. Members of the public are most welcome and encouraged to attend these free recitals.
October鈥檚 recitals were very well received and included performances by 黑料不打烊 Music Society, 黑料不打烊 Wind Quintet and a Trumpet Class, lead by Chris Williams.
November鈥檚 recitals will commence on the 1st with the 黑料不打烊 Music Society followed then by a Clarinet Class with Sioned Roberts on the 8th, Piano Class with Jenny Jones, Gary O'Shea, Xenia Pestova and Teleri-Sian on the 15th, 黑料不打烊 Music Society returns on the 22nd and there will be a Violin Class with Edward Davies and Rosie Skelton plus a Cello class with Nicola Pearce on the 29th.
鈥淭he concerts are organised by teacher's "class" - for example, the pianists perform on November 15th, there is a separate concert for trumpet players, string players, and so on. By attending these lunchtime concerts, the public will have an opportunity to find out what students are working on, and it will also give students invaluable performing experience and the chance to share their music-making in the community that they are becoming a part of.鈥 Said Dr Xenia Pestova, Head of Performance at the School of Music.
