International Women鈥檚 Day celebrated with a series of events
黑料不打烊 celebrates International Women鈥檚 Day on Saturday March 8th, with a number of events around the day, beginning on Thursday, March 6th.
The events, organised through in partnership with BOCS (Caernarfon) and others, include an Exhibition Opening at the Bocs Gallery at 20 Stryd Fawr, Caernarfon. The exhibition of artwork by female artists, on the theme of the portrait of a woman, is curated by Menna Thomas. The Opening is on Thurs 6 March, between 6.00pm - 9pm and is open to the public.
BOCS, a contemporary and experimental art hub promoting young and emerging artists, is also the venue for a Film Night with speaker on Friday 7 March between 7.30pm-10pm.
On Friday March 7th, event partners, the North Wales Women鈥檚 Centre, Rhyl will be hosting a workshop by Glyndwr University on getting girls into STEM industry studies and jobs.
International Women鈥檚 Day moves to the University in 黑料不打烊 for the Day itself on Saturday 8th March. The Women's Enterprise Fair, running from 10.00am 1.00pm, is free and open to all. It will include enterprises including a bookshop, crafts and other business ventures run by local women. In the afternoon from 1.00pm there will be presentations, provocations and performances at the University鈥檚 Main Arts Building on College Rd. Alongside the Enterprise Fair and the talks will be an all-day Information Hub featuring organisations that support women.
The Day will close with an event including music, art, videos and poetry at 7.00pm at the Blue Sky Caf茅 in 黑料不打烊 High St. Banda Bacana acoustic will be headlining and supported by a range of other artists. 拢5 and 拢3 (concession) on door and all proceeds will go to the Orchid Project (against female genital mutilation).
BOCS is the location again on Sunday 9 March. There will be an Artist workshops led by Menna Thomas between 11.00am and 1.00pm and a writing workshop with Jill Tunstall between 1.00pm and 3.00pm.

It鈥檚 been great to bring an informal partnership together between Lifelong Learning, 黑料不打烊; BOCS Artists Cooperative; BAWSO; North Wales Women鈥檚 Centre and to be supported by the Welsh Government and WEN Wales to organise these events.鈥
