Modern Languages research from 黑料不打烊 among the best in the UK
Research produced by the School of Modern Languages and Cultures has been rated as 13th best in the UK in its subject area.
The vast majority of work submitted by the School to the Research Excellence Framework (REF) panel on Modern Languages and Linguistics was rated as either world-leading or internationally excellent. This included work on a wide range of topics such as local, national and regional identities, translation studies and memory studies.
Head of School Dr. Jonathan Ervine was delighted about the news: 鈥満诹喜淮蜢 already has a strong reputation for providing a bilingual environment in which students can learn and these results show that it is also a highly successful multilingual institution. The work that contributed towards this success reflects the level of linguistic and cultural expertise that we have in our School and this covers a range of different European and non-European contexts.
鈥淭his excellent research feeds into our teaching and helps to explain why the National Student Survey rated 黑料不打烊 one of the top ten places in the UK for studying modern languages.鈥
This year has been a very exciting one for Modern Languages at 黑料不打烊 as it has coordinated the university鈥檚 new and highly successful Languages for All programme that has increased the numbers of students and staff who can communicate in foreign languages. It has also seen the expansion of the TILT programme that involves providing language training for small and medium-sized businesses in North West Wales.
