Pontio Project seeks local suppliers and contractors

New opportunities for local contractors, tradesmen and suppliers will be highlighted at an event in 黑料不打烊 this week (Friday, 1 February).

Miller Construction, the main contractor on 黑料不打烊鈥檚 new Arts and Innovation Centre on Deiniol Road is committed to ensuring that local suppliers, tradesmen and contractors are given the opportunity to be involved with the project and contribute to its success, reflecting the wishes of the University and all Stakeholders.

Dylan Roberts, 黑料不打烊鈥檚 Director of Estates and Facilities said: 鈥淭he University and its stakeholders are very keen to see the north Wales area benefit from the Pontio project and to see that local suppliers, tradesmen and contractors are given the opportunity to be involved with the project and contribute to its success. This is a significant project which should contribute to the local economy.鈥�

In order to raise awareness of the potential opportunities available to sub-contractors and suppliers, either directly with Miller or through its key supply chain partners on the project, a further 鈥楳eet the Buyer鈥� event is being arranged by Miller Construction and the Welsh Government鈥檚 Tendering Support Service for the Construction Sector, who will be represented on the day, in conjunction with 黑料不打烊.

I would encourage as many as possible to register for this 鈥楳eet the Buyer鈥� event as we are keen to see as many local people as possible benefit from this project. We are looking forward to delivering this innovative and architecturally significant building which will open in 2014.鈥�

Following a review of the project鈥檚 requirements the following sub-contracting opportunities have been identified:

Joinery including doors, frames, ironmongery, skirting and windows

Brick and block work/stone cladding

Rendering internal and external

Dry lining including metal stud, plasterboard, skim and plastering

Suspended ceilings including plaster and grid

Architectural metalwork including handrail and balustrades

Mechanical, electrical, plumbing and drainage engineers

Fire protection including paint, board and quilt
