Prize-winning Quartet returns to 黑料不打烊
The all-female Benyounes String Quartet returns to 黑料不打烊 for two concerts this week after winning the prestigious Daisy de Saugy Prize for an exceptional chamber music recital last week in Geneva. This will be the quartet鈥檚 third visit to 黑料不打烊, and follows recent concerts in festivals across Europe which have attracted considerable attention 鈥 鈥渃atch one of their recitals if you can鈥 wrote a reviewer after a performance in Swansea 鈥 as well as a special invited performance for the Prime Minister at No.10 Downing Street in July.
鈥淚t鈥檚 always great to return to North Wales, and Powis Hall is a wonderful venue for chamber music,鈥 says violist Sara Roberts, who is from Llanfairpwll, Anglesey.
The Benyounes Quartet will perform a lunchtime recital on Friday 14 October, which will include Mozart鈥檚 well-known string quartet in G major K387, and a quirky, jazz-influenced piece by the French composer Thierry Escaich. Saturday evening鈥檚 concert will comprise three of the finest works in the string quartet repertoire, including the last completed quartet by Haydn, the 鈥榝ather of the string quartet鈥.
