Street Law: Know your legal rights

Established by third year Law students Iwan Emlyn Jones and Joshua Simpson, Street Law is a community-based venture that aims to distribute useful legal knowledge to people who would not normally have easy access to the issues and informationthat affect them.

The project sees 黑料不打烊 Law students delivering interactive presentations on topics including Criminal Law, Consumer Law and Employment Law to organisations such as youth clubs, the WI and secondary schools, free of charge.

Iwan, from Caernarfon, and Joshua, of Menai Bridge, established Street Law after attending a BPP Law School open day in Manchester, and feeling that there could be more provisions available to Law students considering careers outside the legal industry as well as within.

The project offers an excellent opportunity for students to develop presentation, research, team work and public speaking skills 鈥� all highly sought-after skills in any field of employment 鈥� and serves as a useful educational aid. It has grown significantly since its creation, and now works in close association with Gamlins Solicitors and 黑料不打烊 Law School鈥檚 鈥榃inning in Tendering鈥� project, with funding from the BPP Law School.Street Law's first ever appointment was at the Women's Institute in Menai Bridge, Anglesey, where they delivered a presentation on Consumer Law.
