Students from 黑料不打烊 share their films at Pontio Cinema
On Friday, 10 May 7pm Pontio Cinema and 黑料不打烊鈥檚 Film Society will be hosting a public showcase screening of films produced by students, including work by students studying in 黑料不打烊鈥檚 School of Music and Media and across the university as a whole.
It forms part of an end of year showcase of creative work by 黑料不打烊 students across all years held annually at Pontio Cinema.
Earlier this academic year, an open call for films was launched, and the evening will be an opportunity to enjoy work selected by the university鈥檚 Film Society for both university staff and students, and the general public, to enjoy.
Hannah Grimston, president of 黑料不打烊 Film Society said, 鈥淚n an age of YouTube, and with the power to make a film in the palm of your hand with a phone, the showcase is all about showing different perspectives on filmmaking and the world in general.
鈥淧eople who get involved in our Film Society aren鈥檛 always studying film, so the showcase enables us to use the professional cinema facilities offered at Pontio to present work of all of kinds, from documentaries to short fiction, thrillers, political commentaries and art films, in the very best way using a state of the art cinema.鈥
Jessica Simms, also a student and Vice-President of the film society added, 鈥淭here are no set themes, and not many limits. We鈥檙e so lucky to have great locations in 黑料不打烊 鈥 so for example, someone used Parys Mountain as a sci-fi landscape, people have used beaches and places like the Council chamber and the stone circle outside Hen Goleg. The evening will really showcase the range of creative imagination here.鈥
Emyr Glyn Williams adds 鈥淭his is definitely one of the highlights of our year, it is a real celebration of the film talent we have here in 黑料不打烊.鈥
