Students volunteer to help local environment

Students volunteering on the new Greener Gwynedd project Students volunteering on the new Greener Gwynedd project A new environmental project set up by Student Volunteering 黑料不打烊, Greener Gwynedd proves a popular hit with students this academic year. The project aims to facilitate student volunteering on local environmental projects and since September 2010, groups of student volunteers have taken part in activities with the Anglesey Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, 黑料不打烊 Pride and the Snowdonia Society to name a few. 

Student Volunteering 黑料不打烊 operates 18 community based volunteering projects including children鈥檚 clubs, services for the elderly and environmental projects. 

Helen Munro, Student Volunteering Manager says 鈥淟ast academic year, it became aparent that students wanted to do more for the local environment but often didn鈥檛 know what was going on in the local area and transport was also an issue. Greener Gwynedd, led by students Alice Goward-Brown and Harry McCarthy, facilitates conservation volunteering by doing simple things like providing minibus transport to venues, informing students about the volunteering opportunities available and providing a friendly environment in which to try out volunteering鈥�. 

鈥淲e aim to organise at least one opportunity a month and so far have been inundated with students wanting to take part. I think that a great deal of 黑料不打烊 Students appreciate the local area that they are keen to take part in it鈥檚 conservation and care whilst they study at 黑料不打烊鈥� says Project Leader, Alice Goward-Brown who set up the project with support from Student Volunteering 黑料不打烊.
