Studying at ºÚÁϲ»´òìÈ

My main reason to study in ºÚÁϲ»´òìÈ was because of the appeal of the undergraduate course I applied for, and I really got a sense of the campus environment which I was looking for when applying to university. Its rating in the top 10 for student satisfaction also drew me into the student experience. Additionally, I was really drawn to the location, placed so close to the sea in an area of outstanding natural beauty.

I love the community feel there is in ºÚÁϲ»´òìÈ between staff and students, and the strong sense of rapport that exists in both an academic and pastoral sense. The location also provides a lot of inspiration for me when studying, and the close distance between land and sea makes it very convenient for recreational activities.

Best thing about the course?

The opportunity to specialise in a topic that I enjoy, after covering a broad range of literary periods at undergrad so that I can hone my skills further.

The Academic School

The close-knit relationship between lecturers and students - particularly in seminars. There is a sociable and friendly atmosphere that the school creates from the moment you arrive.

Support

The University has offered a range of support systems to provide help for students if they need it - from activities arranged by the SU to School focused support, such as special circumstances and pastoral care. Additionally, Safety Nets and Mental Health advisors has been particularly useful for me in the past year due to the pandemic.

Clubs and Societies

I am currently TV editor of Y Seren ºÚÁϲ»´òìÈ, ºÚÁϲ»´òìÈ's Student Newspaper from 2019-21, which involves writing, editing and contributing articles to relevant sections. This has provided me with valuable editorial and journalistic experience as well as becoming proficient with digital and IT software such as InDesign and Wordpress. I am also Social Media Representative of ºÚÁϲ»´òìÈ Art Society, a role which requires regular posts and advertising of our weekly events on Facebook and Instagram. In addition, I am also a member of VegSoc and ºÚÁϲ»´òìÈ Writer's Guild, which take place every Monday evening.

Social activities 

I enjoy walking, cooking, going to the cinema, going to cafes, quizzes.

Living in Halls

I lived in St Mary's Halls of Residence in first year, and am currently living in Ffriddoedd Halls of Residence for my Masters.

ºÚÁϲ»´òìÈ Employability Award

I participated in the ºÚÁϲ»´òìÈ Employability Award during my undergrad, and achieved the BEA 100 in July 2020. This included a variety of core and extra-curricular activities throughout the three years of my study. These included experiences I had both in and outside of university, during term time and in the summer months and it was a valuable way of reflecting on my personal development for future employment.
