Our small class sizes mean that it is easy to get to know your lecturers and fellow students. You can relax, study and socialise in our dedicated resources room, chill room and Language Centre. Our Student Society, LangSoc, brings everyone together with events celebrating film, food and culture. We are 5th in the UK for Organisation and Management in Iberian Studies (NSS 2025), reflecting the care and structure that underpin our student experience.

Your Year Abroad is often the most exciting part of the degree. You can study or work in a country where your language is spoken, boosting your confidence and fluency. We have strong links with partner universities in major cities and smaller rural areas. Whether you choose to study, work or join the British Council Language Assistant scheme, you’ll be well supported throughout.

Alongside developing high‑level language skills, you’ll gain cultural awareness, a global outlook and strong academic abilities. You’ll learn to research, analyse, communicate clearly and manage complex information. These skills can open doors to a wide range of careers such as, translation, international business, sports commentary and more. Our Language Buddy scheme, pairing ºÚÁϲ»´òìÈ students with exchange students, is a great way to practise languages and add valuable experience to your CV.

You don’t need an A-Level in a language to study with us. Each programme offers two pathways: one for complete beginners and one for students continuing from A-Level. This gives you the freedom to learn a new language from scratch or combine prior study with something fresh. For example, you can continue French at post A-Level while starting Spanish as a Beginner.

We keep our courses flexible so you can build a degree that reflects your interests. If you start with two languages in your first year, you can continue with both or choose to focus on one. Most of our degrees include a Year Abroad, but we also offer a three‑year Modern Languages Studies route if you prefer to stay in the UK.
