An evening with Jackie Kay MBE - renowned novelist and poet
Jackie Kay, one of Britain鈥檚 most versatile writers, will be visiting 黑料不打烊 in March. She is a renowned poet, playwright, novelist, memoirist and writer of short stories, and has enjoyed great acclaim for her work for both adults and children.
Jackie Kay will be reading from her selected works, and shall be in conversation with author and 黑料不打烊 lecturer, Dr Kachi A Ozumba, on Monday 4 March, 2013, 5 - 7pm, at the Main Arts Lecture Theatre, New Arts Building. This event is free and all are welcome.
Her works are used in a variety of literature and creative writing courses at the School of English, such as Literature Since 1945, Creative Writing: Fiction & Non-fiction, Creative Writing: Poetry, and Showing and Telling.

During her career, Jackie Kay has won many awards. Her awards for poetry include the Eric Gregory Award, Saltire Society Scottish First Book of the Year Award, the CLPE award, and the Costa Poetry Award (shortlist); while her awards for prose include the Guardian Fiction Prize, the International Impac Dublin Literary Award (shortlist), the British Book Awards Decibel Writer of the Year, BBC National Short Story Prize (shortlist), Scottish Book of the Year Award, and the PEN/Ackerley Prize. In 2006, she was awarded an MBE for services to literature.
