Student crafts winning idea in 黑料不打烊鈥檚 2012 B-Enterprising Business Idea Competition
Winning post-graduate student Dale Spridgeon at her potter鈥檚 wheelDale Spridgeon, a post-graduate student in the , has been awarded 拢200 after entering the annual Business Ideas Competition organised by the, part of the university鈥檚 Careers and Employability Service.
Students were asked to describe an original business concept in only 200 words and explain how their idea was feasible, innovative and unique.
The competition aimed to give undergraduates and post-graduates the opportunity to express their enterprising ideas in a concise way and to be recognised for their creativity and entrepreneurial spirit.
The ideas were judged by a variety of careers and employability and enterprise projects staff and local business entrepreneurs.
The winning student described a pottery and craft service that could be used for alternative therapy, personal development, and team building purposes.
鈥淎s a hobby I love working with clay and especially throwing pots on the potter鈥檚 wheel. It is fun, therapeutic and a great way to unwind after a busy day,鈥 said Dale.
鈥淚t occurred to me that all sorts of people in different walks of life could benefit from pottery and crafts but who may not have the facilities, skills, nor easy access to engage with them,鈥 she added.
B-Enterprising Project Co-ordinator Lowri Owen said: 鈥淩eturning members of the judging panel agreed that the entries we have seen submitted to the Business Ideas Competition have continued to improve year upon year, this year has been no exception.
鈥淭his competition, along with many of the other enterprising events we have hosted at 黑料不打烊, has demonstrated the wealth of creativity and entrepreneurial talent present in our student body.鈥
The Business Ideas Competition is just one of the many competitions, workshops, presentations and events provided by the B-Enterprising Project to support students who want to become more entrepreneurial or are thinking of starting a business.
