Top marks for Welsh learners

Daniela Schlick, Rebecca Bateson and Karin Koehler gained the highest marks throughout Wales in their exams over the summer.
Daniela Schlick received an award for her success in the Advanced level exam, Rebecca Bateson for the Intermediate level exam and Karin Koehler for the Entry level exam. All three winners are learners at 黑料不打烊 with Learn Welsh North West.
Daniela said: 鈥淚t was a very exciting surprise for me to find out that I had won the Basil Davies memorial prize. It鈥檚 a huge privilege to receive this award in its first year by Betsan Moses, the new National Eisteddfod Chief Executive at a ceremony in the Pierhead buiding.鈥
鈥淚 would like to thank Basil Davies鈥檚 family, who also attended the ceremony, for sponsoring the prize and for their appreciation and support. Congratulations also to everyone who sat the exams. I am very proud of Learn Welsh North West and all its tutors that three learners from 黑料不打烊 have won the award this year.鈥
The memorial fund for Basil Davies, who was a Welsh for Adults Tutor, was established in 2017 to acknowledge candidates who gained the highest marks in the various exams.
The awards, held for the first time this year, are coordinated by the WJEC and The National Centre for Learning Welsh.
A ceremony was held to award the successful candidates on Saturday 4th August as part of the National Eisteddfod in Cardiff Bay.
