Welsh Music Scence competition - chance to win an Ipod
Can you recognise the artist that performed during the ‘Noson Pinaclau Pop’ in 1968? Then pay a visit to ºÚÁϲ»´òìÈ’s stall during the National Eisteddfod to be in with a chance of winning an Ipod.
The competition is based on material from the Welsh Pop Archive, a unique collection of items related to Welsh pop music from the 40s to the present day, based in the School of Music at ºÚÁϲ»´òìÈ. To be in with a chance of winning all you have to do is name the artists in a collection of photos from the 60s. The winner will be announced during the Music Quiz at 1.00 on Thursday, August 9.
The Welsh music industry also provides the subject for a presentation at ºÚÁϲ»´òìÈ’s stand on the Eisteddfod field at 12.30 on Thursday 9 August.
A presentation, Gwerthiant Cerddoraieth yn yr Oes Ddigidol, by ºÚÁϲ»´òìÈ Unviersity PhD student Steffan Wyn Thomas and Dafydd Roberts from Sain will share the results of recent research into the future of the Welsh music industry.
Sain and ºÚÁϲ»´òìÈ have been cooperating on a KESS scheme, in the form of a three-year research PhD, to look at future models to increase the economic income from producing and using Welsh music.
The presentation forms part of Cerdd Iau- the School of Music’s day of activities at the Eisteddfod.
In addition to the presentation, there’s plenty of enjoyment to be had – and something to everyone’s taste.
The day begins with a Music Composing workshop at 11.00 and again at 2.30. The Workshop is led by Owain Llwyd and Peredur Glyn Davies.
Following a performance by Glain Dafydd on the harp at 12.00, and again at 2.00, there’s an opportunity to relax and have some fun in a Music Quiz that begins at 1.00. Come and find out who really knows their Welsh music inside out.
The day has a musical finale with a solo performance by singer, Ynyr Llwyd at 3.30.
